2016 Back to School Dinner

    Backpacks will be disbursed first to Students who RSVP for the dinner. At the end of the dinner, backpacks will be available for Students who did not RSVP. Backpacks will be stocked according to grade level: Pre-k thru 5, 6-12 and GED, and Higher Education and Adult Vocational Training.

    Gene TagabanGene Tagaban, "One Crazy Raven," is of the Takdeintaan, the Raven, Freshwater Sockeye clan from Hoonah, AK. He is the Child of the Wooshkeetaan, the Eagle, Shark clan from Juneau, AK. He is Cherokee, Tlingit and Filipino.

    Gene serves as board member and trainer for the Native Wellness Institute and is a NLP Master practitioner. He is an influential and inspirational story teller and has been a featured teller at various festivals including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, the Bay Area Storytelling festival in Berkley, and the Singapore International Storytelling Festival. He is featured in the film "Shadow of the Salmon" and Sherman Alexie's "The Business of Fancydancing." Gene has performed for the Dalai Lama at the "Seeds of Compassion" gathering in Seattle, WA and the Nature Conservancy's 50th anniversary with Jane Goodall.

    As a storyteller, a trainer, a speaker, and a mentor, Gene's foremost passion is teaching and believes that "learning and laughter go hand in hand." With the wisdom and knowledge from his teachers, mentors and elders, his background in theater, dance and music, his work with wilderness and nature connection, he has developed influential results-based workshops, presentations and performances. Gene educates audiences of all ages in prevention, empowerment, leadership, relationship-building, communication, self-awareness, spirit and honor and has touched participants of all walks of life nationally and internationally. In the words of one audience participant, "Gene is a delight and inspiration to the human spirit."

    We would like to honor High School, GED and College (AA, BA, MA, PhD) graduates of the class of 2016 as well as any graduates from previous year who have not been honored yet to be honored, please RSVP with the Education Department. Past Graduates, please wear your Proud Snoqualmie Graduate T-shirt!
